Pushups and Smoothies Instead of Morning Coffee

Happily married man in his 30s and a father. Not working out enough and too many hobbies, but healthy eating is an important part of our family.

What you eat for breakfast and how you start your day?

I start my day about 7:20. Weekday morning is the busiest in our family and let’s be honest, there isn’t enough time. Most of us don’t feel hungry straight after waking up, so breakfast really was never part of my morning routine.

I start my day with 2-3 glasses of water. Coffee is replaced with push-ups and then smoothie. To change things up I have changed my smoothie breakfast with eggs and bacon, pancakes or porridge in the weekends.

How was your morning routine before smoothies?

Before I discovered smoothies I had sandwiches and coffee for breakfast. And I didn’t feel as energized as I should. I definitely didn’t drink enough water. Also in the end of the day, I struggled with headaches and this is something that doesn’t happen anymore.

How much and what kind of superfoods do you use in your smoothies?

I have added several superfoods to my smoothies to get all the necessary nutrients. I like chia seeds, goji berries, sea buckthorn, wild blueberries and flax seeds. How does your smoothie routine look like?

I drink them almost every morning. After trying out all kind of combinations, now I know that if you can’t recognize the ingredients by the taste, you added too many ingredients.

I usually start with bananas and avocados to get that delicious creamy texture. These ingredients also keep me fulfilled till lunch time. Vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and amino acids are all coming from Balance superfood blend.

My morning smoothie:

1 ripe banana
1/2 avocado
a handful of ice
1/2 glass of blueberries
a handful of raspberries
1 tablespoon of Balance blend
natural apple juice
1 tsp of honey

Blend it about 2 minutes.

What were your biggest mistakes when you got into smoothies?

Adding too many ingredients.
